Kleinwallstadt 3D Archery Course
The Kleinwallstadt 3D Archery Course “Am alten Schloss” is the newest course in the 3D-Bogenregion and was opened in May 2024 in Kleinwallstadt, Lower Franconia, i.e. in the northwestern part of the 3D-Bogenregion. The course is run by Holger Krauß, a long-time archer and member of the Elsenfeld shooting club. The course has 30 stations with currently over 100 3D animal targets. In addition to the regular 30 shooting positions, there is an additional “rat peg” at every odd station number, from which a tricky shot at a rat is the task. There are a total of 15 of these additional pegs, so the course includes a total of 45 shooting positions. The course site is located on the outskirts of Kleinwallstadt in an idyllic mixed forest covering an area of approximately 13 hectares. The approximately 3 km long circular route leads along natural paths along interesting small gorges and also through the area of the ruins of Waleberg Castle (popularly known as the “old castle”), a medieval castle complex from the late 13th century, of which unfortunately is not a lot left of. Due to the partly unpaved paths and a height difference of approx. 80 meters, sturdy shoes and an average level of fitness are recommended when attempting the course. Benches have been set up for breaks along the circular route. After station 16 you can walk back to the start on a land consolidation path and interrupt the tour, for example for a longer break.
Registration and use of the course
Registration for the course takes place on site at the registration trailer. All essential information about the course can be found there. Payment and registration are based on trust and the usage money must be deposited into the “cash register” before entering the course. In order to use the Kleinwallstadt archery course, you must generally have your own archery equipment, as there is no rental on site. However, bows and archery equipment can be rented from the operator by prior arrangement. More about this below under “Bow Rental”.
Prices and opening times
The course is open all year round in the morning from 9 a.m. The closing times are staggered monthly and can be found in detail in the table below. The fee is a daily fee, which means you can do as many rounds of the course as you like per day. The course fee for adults (18 years and over) is 14 EUR per day, children and young people (12 to 17 years inclusive) pay 7 EUR and children under 12 are free. Directions Parking
Getting to the course is relatively easy. If you simply enter Oberhauser Weg 3, 63839 Kleinwallstadt into your navigation system, it will take you directly to a hiking parking lot about 100 meters from the Kleinwallstadt Schützenhaus and the start of the course. There are usually enough parking spaces available there. Please do not drive up to the Kleinwallstadt Schützenhaus as these places are reserved for the members of the Schützenverein.

It is a daily fee, which means you can run as many course laps as you like. Payment is made on site at the construction trailer on a trust basis. It is only possible in cash. The fee in cash must always be brought with you.

The Kleinwallstadt archery course is located on the outskirts of Kleinwallstadt at the Schützenhaus / Old Castle. Coming from the local thoroughfare (Wallstraße), follow the signs to Hofstetten and, after the railway crossing, turn half-left into Schlossstraße and follow this. The hiking car park “am Birkenhof” is located about 400m outside the town. This can be used for parking. There are usually enough parking spaces available. Please do not drive up to the shooting house/construction trailer as the parking spaces there are reserved for the shooting club members. Actually bow rental is not offered on site. However, it is possible to rent bows by prior arrangement with the course operator. Please simply contact the operator and ask about the availability of rental bow equipment. You can find more information on the “Bow Rental” subpage and also on the course website itself.

The course has 30 stations with over 100 3D animals. At the stations with odd numbers there is a so-called “rat peg” in addition to the regular shooting pegs. In total there are 45 kills on the course.
It takes around 2-4 hours to complete a round of the course. The circular route is approximately 3 km long.

Only bows are permitted on the course. Crossbows, blowguns or other sports equipment are prohibited, as is the use of arrows with broadheads or blunts.Compound bows are up to 60 lb. draw weight allowed! There is no arrow speed limit. Dogs are allowed on the course as long as they are kept on a leash.
There are various restaurants in the village. There is currently no on-site catering option.
Unfortunately there is no toilet on site. However, in the event of an urgent need after arrival, a public toilet within the center of the village can be used. It is located in the area of an open passage hall at the so-called “Zehntscheune”.
