McKAMP 3D Archery Course
The McKAMP 3D course is the newest archery course in the 3D archery region and opened in September 2024. It is located in the Main-Spessart district northwest of Würzburg. The course is run by Jason Mc Kinney, who also runs the youth & McKAMP operates leisure camp. The course has 30 stations with currently around 50 3D targets. The approximately 3.5 km long circular route takes you from the shooting range and station 1 directly at the camp for approximately 400m in a northwesterly direction to the forest where the course is located. The forest is a beautiful mixed forest that runs along a slope and has some very rustic vegetation, but is also quite free in some places and interspersed with meadows. The 3D targets are well integrated into the existing terrain and slopes behind the animals usually serve as natural backstops, which is why this course does not require any artificial arrow traps. The stations are each equipped with 1-3 animals, usually medium and small in size, such as raccoons, wild boars, rabbits and deer. However, there are also stations with larger 3D animals, such as bears, deer and bison. The shooting distances range between 3 (!) and 50 meters and are chosen according to the size of the target. The course is suitable for both beginners and advanced archers, who should, however, have moderate fitness and sturdy shoes.
Registration and Course Use
Registration for the course takes place at the registration hut on the camp grounds. It is the last hut on the left before the shooting range. Registration forms are available there, which after filling out must be thrown into a slot along with the course fee. Registration is based on trust. In order to use the McKAMP 3D Gräfendorf course, you must have your own archery equipment. However, archery equipment can be rented from the operator by prior arrangement. More about this below under “Bow Rental”. The operator also offers archery courses and archery-related events. For further details please contact the operator.

In the camp there is a small beer garden where you can have a bite to eat. It is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Regardless of this, drinks are served daily from 10 a.m. You can also spend the night in the wooden huts in the camp or camp there with your tent, caravan or motorhome.

For a round on the course about 2-3 hours must be planned. The path, which is laid out as a horizontal figure of eight, is approximately 3.5 km long and can be shortened after the first third (after station 12) to the last few stations (from station 27), so that a small (half ) round could be shot.
The course runs as a circuit in a mixed forest along a slope. An average level of fitness and sturdy shoes are therefore advantageous.
